We Tested It: FrogTape painting tape from ShurTech Brands
News from Sacramento Bee:

How much: $ 6.99 suggested retail price for 60 yards; ShapeTape, $ 15.99 for 25 yards.

Where to buy: Available at Lowe’s, The Home Depot, Ace Hardware and other home improvement stores or at www.frogtape.com.

Pro: See (and paint) stripes with this family of masking tapes. Treated with a patented polymer, this product blocks latex paint and prevents it from bleeding. The result is a crisp, professional edge on almost any surface. Use the green FrogTape for most painting jobs and the orange for textured plaster walls. The yellow is made for masking delicate surfaces such as wallpaper, wicker or wood finishes. ShapeTape comes in waves, chevrons or scallops for painting designs and stripes. All press into place easily, protect as designed, then peel off in a snap.

Con: The polymer creates a barrier when it comes in contact with latex paints. Although it still masks acceptably with oil-based paints or stains, this tape loses its foolproof edge when non-latex products are used.

“A home that’s well attended to and well cared for shows when you go to sell,” said Christina Hoffmann, content manager for HouseLogic.com , a website of the National Association of Realtors . “If your house is poorly maintained, some appraisers estimate you could see your value fall off as much as 10 percent.”
