Arrest made in Sussex burglaries

OCEAN VIEW — A Lewes man and several teenagers were arrested in connection with several burglaries in the Ocean View area that have been occurring since last summer.

Anthony Firlein, 23, of Lewes was arrested Jan. 18 and charged with burglary and related crimes after police investigated a burglary Jan. 6 on the 34000 block of East Atlantic Avenue in Ocean View, Delaware State Police reported. Further police investigation lead to the arrest of three 14-year-old boys and a 15-year-old boy, police said.

Police allege that Firlein and the teenagers broke into Under the Sun, Lavender and Lace Antiques and Claire’s Scrapbook Cove and removed cash and other items. Police said they also damaged property, including spray-painting 84 Lumber and the Parsell Funeral Home, which are on the same block as the businesses that were burglarized.

The teenagers also were connected to a separate incident where they spray-painted and scratched two vehicles parked in the lot of a store on Dec. 31, police said

Also, police allege the 15-year-old was involved in five burglaries in June and July at Holts Dispensary, 34903 E. Atlantic Ave, which included stealing alcoholic beverages. Police believe that two others were involved in those incidents: Samuel Moore, 18, of Millsboro and an unknown male.
